This week we wrapped up our unit of study on Colonial Times. Last week, the students worked together to make journey cakes and butter. Christian's grandmother donated her Colonial Williamsburg costume to our Lower School, and Mrs. Storck dressed in the costume to serve the students their treats. Ask your child what their favorite part of learning about Colonial life. I'm sure you have heard about our newest class member, Figgle. Hopefully you believed your child when they explained why they had a red on their communication log!
This week in literacy, the students are learning to read two books on the same topic and then compare and contrast how they are the same and different. They worked with their partners to come up with a main idea statement about both books and to find details from both sources that supported the main idea. Then, they had a chance to share what they learned to another partner group. This is hard work and they did an amazing job!
