Last week the four year old students from Plus came up the hill to read with their third grade buddies. As you can tell from the pictures, everyone had a great time. Some third graders couldn't believe how busy the four year olds were. Ha! We will get to visit with our buddies a few times throughout the school year.
In social studies, the students worked in pairs to research a famous explorer. They had to find out what year their explorer explored, what country they represented, and list their accomplishments. Once they researched their information, they worked together to create a PowerPoint presentation. You can view the PowerPoints in the background of the presentations. Then they taught the rest of the class what they learned using an interview format. Throw in some costumes and the rest was history! Enjoy!

This week in literacy the students have started exploring nonfiction texts. They are learning how to preview the text by reading the text features and how to identify the main idea and details using a boxes and bullets format. They have loved sharing interesting facts with their reading partner!
