Maryland State Symbols, Spring Break Reflections, Brooklandwood Bash

The students have been hard at work this week researching for their state report, practicing Maypole, and getting ready for Grandparents'/Special Friends' day. Below is a class picture we took using the free app Sketch Guru.  Check it out!

In social studies we have been researching Maryland symbols and are learning how many of the symbols tie back to the colors in the Calvert family's coat-of-arms (red, black, and yellow).  Each student chose a state symbol to read about and then composed a paragraph about their topic.  Take a look at their excellent work:

Last week, the students had a chance to write all about their spring break and share them with the class.  I will put these in their writing portfolio and you can see them at the end of the year.  Sounds like everyone had a great break!
I'm sure you heard all about this, but last Friday, Lila's dad gave the third graders a sneak peek of the Brooklandwood Bash.  This was such a fun experience!  I know several students wanted to attend the festivities after viewing what was up for auction.
